EDC opens office in Monteregie to help local businesses with exporting opportunities

Adding to its current four offices in Québec, EDC is opening a new office in Brossard, on October 5th 2016. With this new point of service, EDC seeks to forge better ties with its customer base in the Montérégie region, which represents approximately 20% of its active accounts in the province.

“EDC is a trusted partner of exporting companies and the Montérégie is where some of Canada’s most dynamic exporters can be found”, explains Alexandre Faria, EDC regional vice-president for Québec. “In our view, this region has tremendous potential. The opening of the Brossard office was a logical choice as it will allow us to better connect with our customers. »

In making this strategic choice, EDC also wants to get closer to exporters and potential customers located outside of Montreal’s downtown core. “I believe we can do better in terms of generating awareness of EDC”, mentions Faria. “Our mission is to help exporters. We’d like all companies that are exporting or that are considering exporting to look at EDC as a trusted partner. Our approach is different than that of financial institutions. »

The majority of companies in the Montérégie are SMEs, emphasizes Faria. “Their needs are complex and unique. They generally have fewer resources, which makes our consulting services that much more valuable to them”.

Although companies in the Montérégie are active in the food production and food processing sectors, the region also accounts for a wide range of goods and services. Because it encompasses widely diversified sectors, Faria believes that EDC’s broad range of expertise can certainly be leveraged.

EDC has created business partnerships with many financial institutions to better support companies’ growth and offer them unequalled financial services. The opening of a branch in Brossard is a great opportunity for EDC to develop closer ties with institutions in the region.

“We’ve set rather ambitious growth objectives”, mentions Faria. “Some highly-performing companies could benefit from our services. We hope that opening our new office will enable us to build relationships with them. »

EDC will add Brossard to its other Québec branches in Montréal, Saint-Laurent, Drummondville and Québec City.
